Increment

Increment is the addition of a fixed amount of time back to a player's clock after each move. For example, in a 3+2 time control, two seconds are added after every move.
Why Is It Important?
- It reduces poor moves caused by rushing.
- It makes technical endgames fairer to play.
- It does not eliminate time pressure completely, but it eases it somewhat.
In games with increment, not only playing quickly but also maintaining a steady rhythm becomes important.
