Increment

General (Increment)
Artış Süresi satranç terimi görseli

Increment is the addition of a fixed amount of time back to a player's clock after each move. For example, in a 3+2 time control, two seconds are added after every move.

Why Is It Important?

  • It reduces poor moves caused by rushing.
  • It makes technical endgames fairer to play.
  • It does not eliminate time pressure completely, but it eases it somewhat.

In games with increment, not only playing quickly but also maintaining a steady rhythm becomes important.
