Opening is the initial stage of a chess game (usually the first 10-15 moves). In this stage, pieces are developed, the center is controlled, and the king is brought to safety.

Basic Opening Principles

• Control the center with pawns (e4, d4)
• Develop knights and bishops quickly
• Castle early
• Do not bring the queen out too early
• Do not move the same piece more than once
