Tournament (Sonneborn-Berger)
Sonneborn-Berger satranç terimi görseli

Sonneborn-Berger is a tie-break method calculated by counting the full scores of the opponents you beat and half the scores of the opponents you drew against.

Why Is It Important?

  • It gives greater value to results achieved against strong opponents.
  • It is commonly used in the round-robin format.
  • It is a more refined measure than simply counting wins.

This system shows that, especially in the race for the top places, it also matters against whom you scored points.
