Registration Opens for the International Pamukkale Open Chess Tournament
Denizli is preparing to host another major chess gathering in the summer of 2026. The International Pamukkale Open Chess Tournament will be organized for the second time this year and will bring chess enthusiasts together from 13 to 19 July 2026. According to the announcement made by the Turkish Chess Federation, the registration period has officially begun. Players who wish to take part in the event will be able to complete their applications until 9 July 2026.
Set in Denizli, a city known for its history, culture, tourism, and natural beauty, this major event is expected to showcase not only strong moves over the board but also a truly international chess atmosphere. The tournament will be held at the Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Congress and Culture Center. With broad participation anticipated, the event is expected to bring together players of different age groups and strength levels, creating the conditions for highly competitive games and important ELO battles.
One of the most striking features of this year’s edition is the announced total prize fund of 1.4 million TL. This figure stands out as one of the main reasons why the tournament is likely to attract strong interest both nationally and internationally. Open tournaments are among the most valuable events on the chess calendar because they bring titled players and developing competitors into the same playing hall. In this respect, the Pamukkale Open will offer participants not only opportunities related to norms and rating goals, but also the chance to gain experience, increase practical play, and test themselves against different playing styles.
The fact that the tournament is being staged in Denizli also gives the event a significance beyond its sporting value. Pamukkale and its surrounding area represent a special destination for players and families who want to combine tournament competition with cultural travel. For that reason, the event is expected to draw attention not only for its competition schedule but also for the city’s historical and natural attractions.
